Electrostatic discharge (ESD)

ESD is the abbreviation for electrostatic discharge. Static charge can be harmful to electronics because they can jump to products with a lower potential. This is harmful to sensitive electronic components and devices. When packaging electronic components and devices such as wafers, chips, motherboards and printed circuit boards or telephones, it is best to choose a machine that is suitable for an ESD-safe environment. These machines are particularly suitable for packaging electronics in an ESD-safe area. Henkelman offers a special range of machines for vacuum sealing these products.  

What happens without a machine with ESD?  

Damage to semiconductors

Semiconductors such as transistors microchips are extremely sensitive to ESD. A discharge can destroy the thin layers of insulation and cause irreversible damage to these components. ESD also causes non-visible damage to semiconductors. These microscopic defects can also cause failure of electronic devices and components.  

Change in electrical properties 
ESD can alter the electrical properties of semiconductors. This can cause unwanted variations in voltage, current, and resistance which can lead to malfunctions in the operation of electronic devices. Electrostatic discharge can also cause malfunctions in complex electronic circuits by altering current paths.  

Special Henkelman machines

The Henkelman range includes several machines that are suitable for an ESD-safe environment. These are equipped with a bi-active sealing system. This ensures that the aluminium vacuum bags, in which electronics are usually packaged, are sealed on both sides. The Falcon 52 and Falcon 80 (floor models) as well as the Boxer 42XL (table model) are suitable for ESD-safe areas. 

Liquid Control

Why Liquid Control? 

Lowering the pressure in the vacuum chamber causes liquids to boil. Even if they are cold. This is a law of nature. The Liquid Control sensor detects the evaporation that is released. Once boiling point is reached, the vacuum packing machine stops vacuuming and starts sealing. This prevents damage to the product and contamination of the chamber. It also avoids oxidation of the pump.

Always an optimal cycle  

Vacuuming machines with sensor control use a pressure sensor to measure when a pre-set vacuum percentage has been achieved. This differs from more traditional vacuuming processes whereby sealing begins automatically once a certain time cycle is complete. In this case you cannot be sure that the desired final vacuum result has been created. To put it simply: with sensor control, the desired final vacuum result is always achieved. Regardless of the volume and even with varying quantities and products. Sensor control is available as an option on several ranges, but the function is also a standard part of the Advanced Control System and on the Aero and Aura machines.  

Operating sensor control

Sensor control is very easy to use. Place the product or several products directly in the chamber. Then turn on the machine and manually set the desired final vacuum result or choose a pre-set program. Close the lid and initiate the vacuuming process. Once it detects the correct vacuum percentage, your Henkelman machine will automatically proceed to the next step in the vacuuming process.  

Soft air

Why soft air?

When packing sharp or soft products, soft air ensures that the chamber is aerated gradually and in a controlled way after the vacuuming process. The vacuum bag therefore encloses the product gradually and in a controlled way, ensuring optimal protection.

This makes soft air ideal for packing items such as strawberries, brie and meat products with bone, as well as non-food products such as screws, bolts, electronics etc. 
 

Advanced Control System (ACS)

Why an Advanced Control System?

The full color ACS control panel is a simple operating system with icons and animations for optimal user-friendliness.

The ACS is equipped with 20 pre-set programs. You can name and set these programs, to meet your needs and recipes. 
In addition, there are extra functions available such as step vacuum, marinating, tenderizing and also a preserving jar function. The available USB connection can be used to exchange data, and also to connect a (label)printer. 
 

Gas Flush / MAP packaging

Why gas flushing (MAP)?

Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) is the addition of a preservative gas during the vacuum packing of vulnerable products such as chopped lettuce, crisps, part-baked goods and / or cooked fish. As well as extending the shelf-life and protecting these products, the addition of gas also prevents discoloration and distortion.

How does it work?

Preservative gas is injected into the vacuum bag after the vacuuming process but before sealing. The gas is usually a mixture of nitrogen (N2) or Argon (Ar) and carbon dioxide (CO2), and in some cases extra oxygen (O2). A special oxygen pump is needed for gas mixtures with more than 20% oxygen.
 

1-2 Cut-off seal

Why 1-2 cut-off seal?

Setting independent times for sealing and cutting is useful when using shrink bags. These are made of a special material that is resistant to higher temperatures.

The sealing time of the convex sealing wire (3.5 mm) can be adjusted independently from that of the rounded cutting wire (1.1 mm), which means that the shrink bag can be better sealed, and the remainder of the bag easily torn off.

 Henkelman's inclined insert plate is a convenient solution specially invented for vacuum packaging of liquids, powders and granular products.  The insert is suitable for various Henkelman vacuum packing machines. Due to its sturdy and durable construction, the insert plate can withstand intensive use. By positioning the vacuum bag at a specific angle within the vacuum chamber, this insert plate ensures that the product remains firmly in place during the packaging process. This prevents spills and ensures tight, professional packaging. 

In short, Henkelman's inclined insert plate increases the efficiency and accuracy of your packaging process, leading to a consistently high-quality end product. 

Thermal label printer

Label printers speed up the process of labelling products.  Henkelman's ultra-compact thermal label printer allows you to create labels with relevant packaging details. A label printer makes it easy to comply with these legal requirements. Packaging that is stored in cold storage, for example, must be labelled with unambiguous product description, packaging date, shelf life etc. This label printer easily meets this need.
